Welcome to fresh-oaked Pinot Noir. It can be a little jarring to see the finesse of this grape given so much muscle from the oak, but sometimes people want what they want turned up to 11. Thankfully, Long Meadow Ranch is only doing about 30% fresh french oak, adding oomph while not completely obscuring the profile. The farm is a wonderland - an organic, integrated farming system, certified by CCOF, centered around winemaking, estate-grown olive oils, fruits and vegetable production, hand-tended bee hives, and a herd of grass-fed Highland cattle. And the winemaker Stephen Vivier earned his chops with a decade at the renowned HDV vineyards. A deep ruby red color with a combination of dried earth and musky roses with penetrating spice aromas on the nose. Shows a refined and silken texture and remains fresh and lively across the palate with intensity of fruit.
