“This unconventional wine is aromatic, fresh, and bridges the gap between extremely orange, and a fine natural wine. Spontaneous fermentation. On the lees for 10 months. 70% stainless, 50% fuder and doppelfuder, from the 1940s and 1960s.”
For those that don’t know what a fuder or doppelfuder is (us included)...
“In Germany (Mosel, Saar, Ruhr), 20ᵗʰ century, a unit of capacity, approximately 960 liters.”
It’s a unit of measurement that specifically refers to the size of the barrel. So this wine is aged in small and medium barrels that are quite old (1940s, 1960s).
This wine is a standout. So aromatic, white flowers and lavender. The palate is dry and smooth, with notes of stone fruit and citrus.
